Just to spare you or your guest of a trip to the ATM , you'll have to know that both of the restaurants are CASH ONLY ,or the way one of the waiters likes to say it :"we like dead presidents!", with a little change in the Back Bay restaurant that do take checks...also...there's no reservations ,no valet parking ,no desserts in the North End restaurant...but you can make a reservation for the Back Bay restaurant , you can valet your car for 14 $ or you can have a coffee with dessert ...both restaurants do take-out the minute they open...

new customers steve/marshfield and vijay/san francisco ... sat with mary at her table.... enjoyed chatting with mary and appreciated tony who served us. the food was simply teriffic. will be back.
ReplyDeletethanks
I dined here last week and the food was good, however I found that having the waitress watching my husband and I and standing over us while we ate made us uncomfortable. I like a good dining experience along with good food and pressuring patrons to eat and run is not a good practice.
ReplyDeleteHow far in advance can you make reservations? My boyfriend and I will be in Boston in August, 2011, and this is his favourite restaurant. I know it's early, but would love to reserve a table!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can make a reservation as far as our reservation book goes for... usually i think it's up to January of the next year,so you can call and reserve a table for that date in August at 617.536.5723.You can make reservations for the Southend (Back-Bay)location...
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your contributions.

One of the best meals I have had out in a long time. Service was wonderful! The food was beyond compare. Dinner for two, with a nice bottle of wine and appetizer for less than $70!! I was so delighted I left a 30 percent tip! No problem paying with cash... the ATM is right across the street. Another way they can keep the prices low and the quality high!
ReplyDeleteHi - awesome fusilli lobster meal this week - Lynn was our server and was fantastic! Favor to ask - I forgot to grab a receipt (since it was cash only threw me off) and need to expense it... any way to get a tab or other letterhead I can use for receipt?
ReplyDeletehi Brian! the only way to get a receipt is to call back the restaurant and ask when Rosemary (the manager)or Lynn will work and i am sure they will be able to help you.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this the fucking 1980's with the no credit/debit bullshit? What a joke, hahah.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the meal in the North End, the food is genuine Italian unlike some of the pretencous rubbish often found in the North End, The cash only rule is funny, managed to walk my meal off popping up to the B of A ATM, we will try the back bay resturant this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAre the menu's comparable between locations? we love the north end location but it would be nice to make reservations...especially during the winter. i'm just worried it won't taste the same!! :)
ReplyDeletewhy don't you call and make a reservation for the southend location and let me know how did it tasted?
DeleteJust in Boston last week-end and ate at the Northend. In one word...FABULOUS! Rosemary took these two guys from Seattle (myself and co-worker), sat us at the bar and gave us the full Giacomo's experience. Go. Eat. Experience. You won't be sorry...we're certainly headed back there the next time we're in town!
ReplyDeleteHi, Are you guys open on Easter Sunday?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Samantha
yes we are open!both of the restaurants are open!!
Deleteyay!
ReplyDeleteSorry...no party platters or catering ...sometimes they would do a large take-out order for people that host a party, but that is entirely decided by the management ...if you want more details ,a phone call will clear that out...ask for Richy and make sure it's a Monday, Thursday or Friday when you call
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to come on Friday July 6th, party of 5, a bit of a reunion for my friends and I. If we show up around 9-9:30, how long should we expect the wait to be? I noticed that you close at 10:30 on Fridays, would we be at risk of not getting seated at all or pushed out early if we aren't seated until 10? Is it just the kitchen that closes at 10:30 or the entire restaurant?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Based on the closing time, I think you're referring to the northend location of Giacomo's ...usually weekend days are busy days for the restaurants ...it's hard to appreciate the wait time ...the northend restaurant has a first come-first served policy...best is to ask the person that handles the seating ...you could try to reserve a table at the southend restaurant, in change...food is solid...
ReplyDeleteI'm heading to Boston with my 10 month old baby. He's well behaved in restaurants (and I would immediately leave if he started crying), but do you think it's best I just get take-out? I'd hate to arrive expecting a dine-in experience, only to be turned away.
ReplyDeleteYou will not be turned away at all..
ReplyDeleteBoth restaurants have highchairs and will accommodate your party as usual
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI know you guys inherently do not take reservations in the North End and the South End will not sit more than a party of 8 but can you make an exception (at either location) for a graduation dinner?
Thanks
Yes, the Northend will be out if the question ...the Southend might work out depending on the number of people in the party and how busy is that day...if it's a weekend day it will not be possible ...you can call and ask for Richard, our manager, to get more info on the matter
DeleteI took your advice and called the South End location and asked to speak to a manager. I introduced myself and explained what you told me above. I asked if they would be able to make an exception and sit more than 8 people for a graduation dinner next week. He rudely responded with "We don't make exceptions. You'd have to pay for our entire revenue for the night." He said this without even asking how many people I was looking to have, which is only 10, and didn't even ask which day of the week I was interested in. Thanks for the suggestion but I didn't appreciate his attitude or complete unwillingness to make it work, without even asking for a single detail.
DeleteI am really sorry about your experience ...our general manager, Richard was not working tonight at the Southend location ...I can't speak for the management as I am not involved in the matter. Please if you will, call tomorrow and ask for Richard, but as I said it's harder to get in if it's a weekend day or we have the reservations book full...
